A Principal Gung-Ho for Effective Tech Integration? I Must Be Dreaming!

Just had my first real sit-down with the new principal at one of our campuses. Wow. That’s all that I could think as I sat there listeing to the man tell me that his administrators need to walk the walk with technology. If the school is going to be the leader – on the cutting edge – of technology in the district, it’s going to have to come from teh top down. Amen and pass the communion wafers, baby!

Of course, I’ve heard the song and dance before, this ain’t my first rodeo, and I wasn’t born yesterday…but homeboy backed it up with ACTION! Learned about the district blogs – and jumped on board – first administrator this year to get a blog! Woot! With lots of plans for communication (one of his priorities). *Lion King Song “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” plays softly in the background* lol.

So…I’m really excited about the possiblities for this campus. I think with a strong lead in technology use from the administration, the campus will fall in line. There are a lot of good teachers on that campus that would love to integrate technology more…and this could be the jump start that sends them soaring! And those sticks-in-the-mud who refuse to use technology will have to really reevaluate their position if it becomes part of the school’s culture. Oh…I hope that happens.

I’m feeling positively positive about this and see a glimmer of hope on the horizon! Wish us luck!
